This Earth Day, Save The River, and the community proved that when we show up for the River, we make a difference. armed with gloves, buckets, grabbers, and a shared love for this magnificent waterway, volunteers took to the shorelines at Grass Point State Park and Wilson’s Beach in Cape Vincent. The results were inspiring, while we wish our shorelines were naturally pristine, our volunteers did the hard work of removing hundreds of pounds of debris before it could impact the River’s fish, wildlife, and water quality.
From microplastics, cigarette butts, and unencapsulated Polystyrene to larger items, every pound removed represents a healthier River we all call home.
A huge thank you to everyone who spent their Earth Day getting their hands dirty for a cleaner St. Lawrence River. Missed the cleanup? You can still help! We have more shoreline cleanups later this summer. You can register by visiting our events page.
